In my previous job I worked in a business development capacity for a fruit wholesaler. I could not really see much career progression so decided to change careers.

As I always liked driving I thought becoming an HGV driver could be the perfect role for me.

My training went well if not a little daunting to start with. There is quite a lot to do with the theory, medical and CPC and of course the practical training.

As a new driver I was concerned about the prospects of securing my first HGV position, having heard how hard it can be without any commercial experience.

Luckily before I even had my license entitlements back I was introduced to the team at HGV Recruitment. My brother was also working through HGV Recruitment also as a newly qualified driver.

As soon as I spoke to them they explained they specialise in helping newly qualified drivers find work, especially with clients who understand new drivers are the life line of the industry.

Marc managed to get me an assessment before my licenses had even come back, as soon as they arrived I was seen within a few days and was offered the position as a Class 2 driver.

The company I work for gave me lots of training and buddying which really helped me get some experience and more importantly to build up my confidence. A few months in and things are going very well.

I am thankful to have found both an agency and client who are happy to bring on new drivers. I would highly recommend this as a career.
