Ex – Military and HM Forces – Securing an HGV Job
Whether you are currently in the military, HM forces or have left as a former member, or a reservist, becoming a professional driver is an ideal career path.
It’s well known that the armed forces provide you with a range of invaluable skills and expertise. Many of these skills are crucial on civvy street and are highly recognised by employers.
The Freight Transport Association (FTA) also recognises the importance of recruiting ex armed forces personnel.
The current driver shortage in the industry is now at 50,000 to 60,000 driver jobs and is set to keep widening.
As part of resettlement, funding is now widely being offered to do your Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC), which enables to drive as a commercial HGV / LGV driver.
Despite this, there is still the on road commercial experience hurdle that many employers require in order to secure your first HGV job.
For many years here at HGV Recruitment we have been championing Newly Qualified Drivers and those with no experience, both ex – military and civilian.
We position drivers across the UK into roles that give them the experience and confidence that they need as part of their resettlement and in order to progress into their new careers.
We strive to keep encouraging and assisting the HM forces community into becoming professional HGV / LGV drivers.
